Villa Evangelini – A Sanctuary for Retreats on Syros

Having hosted successful retreats in Spain and Portugal, we felt that Syros offered something rare — a quieter, more refined rhythm, perfectly suited to intimate and meaningful retreat experiences.

Nestled within three acres of private gardens, orchards and olive groves, Villa Evangelini is a 19th-century aristocratic neoclassical villa located in the exclusive area of Poseidonia on the unspoiled island of Syros. Surrounded by nature and protected by high stone walls, the villa offers a deep sense of privacy, calm and seclusion — an ideal setting for rest, reflection and reconnection.

Featured internationally and described by Condé Nast Traveller as “a honey-coloured house situated opposite a blue church, furnished with antiques unusual by Greek standards”, the villa holds a quiet elegance that is felt the moment you arrive.

A Home Designed for Rest & Connection

Lovingly restored by its owners, Villa Evangelini blends timeless beauty with relaxed comfort. Antique furniture, vintage textiles and soft, natural colours create a space that feels both refined and welcoming — never formal, always lived in.

The villa accommodates up to 15 guests, offering:

Four en-suite bedrooms in the main house
Three additional en-suite guest rooms in separate, bohemian garden houses

Each room has air-conditioning and its own private bathroom, allowing guests to retreat into privacy while remaining connected to the shared rhythm of the group.

Spaces to Gather, Move & Be Still

The heart of the villa is its spacious drawing room and farmhouse kitchen, which naturally invite gathering, shared meals and quiet conversation. Shuttered windows open onto the gardens, allowing light, air and birdsong to flow through the house.

Yoga and meditation sessions are held either:

outdoors, beneath palm trees and open skies,
in shaded garden spaces, or
close to the pool, where the atmosphere is calm and expansive.

There is no sense of rush here — only space to breathe, move and soften.

Gardens, Pool & Natural Surroundings

A full-size private swimming pool is tucked discreetly behind bamboo fencing, offering a feeling of complete seclusion. A gentle path winds through the orchard — with orange and lemon trees, vines, pomegranates and bay — leading from the house to the pool and garden areas.

The expansive grounds provide countless quiet corners for reading, journaling, rest or simple presence. The villa’s setting naturally supports a slower pace, encouraging guests to disconnect from external demands and reconnect with themselves.
